“I have never thought of writing for reputation or honor. What I have in my heart must come out; that is the reason why I compose” – Ludwig van Beethoven
Hello. My name is Gautam Muralidharan. I am a first generation immigrant from India and currently live in Minneapolis. I am also a proud father of twin toddler boys and when I am not changing diapers and effectively interpreting baby talk, I build technology solutions for large companies. I want to learn how to translate principles of sustainable and repeatable design in building applications and optimizing algorithms that make computers run more efficiently and reduce their footprint on our lives. I love taking on diverse hobbies and sometimes am guilty of running away from them, often for about 26.2 miles. Excited to be here!
Sustainability and me
I am an engineer and I love building things. Specifically I design computer software and systems. My training and education have forged my thought process to create system that align with long and short term strategic objectives of large corporations; which is a fancy way of saying faster, powerful and better systems. While I have always admired the complexity of the system we are all part of and strongly believe there are processes we can emulate from our natural surroundings (I am an avid Artificial Intelligence enthusiast), I had seldom factored sustainability into the equation when architecting my systems. That all changed when I became a parent 18 months back and started to realize how important legacy is (took this picture of our twin boys when they were a day old). I believe there is no better legacy that we can leave behind for our future generations than the awestruck feeling you get when you get a sense of complexity of your habitat and how well it functions despite the numerous variables that define it. I am hoping I find a way to do that with the computer systems I build.
I am currently a student at the MCAD sustainable design program. Here is a link to some of my work.
