Summer 2013, Biomimicry
Title of Project: VendorPlan
Summary: VendorPlan is toolset for small businesses. It is inspired by how organisms in a complex biological ecosystem compete and cooperate at the same time to survive and flourish. They would like to take the same principle to allow small businesses to collaborate and share information, without compromising their own wellbeing and being able to successfully compete against very big corporations with unlimited resources and funding.

Fall 2012, Introduction to Sustainable Design
Title of Project: Fabricated Under Nature (FUN) Toys
Summary: The materials that toys are made from have changed, what toys can do has changed, what they cost has dramatically changed but the fact that children love to play with toys has not changed. However, we have entered a dangerous era of social disparity where we have families in developed countries that have too many toys to play with, that often get discarded without options to reduce, recycle or reuse, negatively impacting our planet, and we have impoverished families and communities with children who share the same love and joy of wanting to play but are deprived of this joy because of the extensive commercialization of toys. Fabricated Under Nature (FUN) Toys is a project that hopes to bridge this gap through affordable toys that are easy to make, use and dispose

Fall 2013, Creative Leadership
What does leadership mean? Who is a leader? How can a leader lead creative teams? These are the questions I wanted answered when I started this course. It is a mystical journey filled with surprises, rewards and visions of a wonderful tomorrow. It is also plagued with pitfalls, risks and dark corners. This report documents my adventure over 15 weeks. There are places I travelled to and want to visit to discover myself. I am hoping in these places I am able to reflect on my value system and understand what I hope to accomplish as a leader. The Map and Dashboard sections of the project report provide a way to measure my values and help me stay on course.

Fall 2013, Collaborative Product Design
Project: Redesign of Hamilton Beach Juicer
Summary: As a part of the “Collaborative Product Design” class we have tried to redesign the Hamilton Beach Juicer using practical tools for sustainable design and real-life metrics to measure success. In our final report, we have generated illustrations and renderings as well as evaluated designs with high-level life cycle assessments. Our design recommendations leverage upon principles that include systems thinking, energy effectiveness, lightweighting, design for lifetime (repair, recycling, etc.), material choice, biomimicry, Cradle to Cradle and persuasive design.
